In case you missed it, WHMCS 7.8 was released in Beta last week featuring new features including Multiple Payment Methods for Clients, a New Server Sync Tool, Free Time-Based Tokens Two-Factor Auth and much more. For further details, visit the 7.8 Beta Preview Site.

WHMCS 7.8 includes a number of new server related features designed to make managing your server fleet quicker, easier and more efficient:

  • Server Creation Wizard - Making it quicker and easier than ever to add a web server to WHMCS.
  • Server Sync Tool - Allowing you to easily identify accounts that exist on a server but not within WHMCS, accounts that exist within WHMCS but not on a server, and any other discrepancies between the two systems.
  • Server Metrics - Giving you insights into the number of accounts on your servers along with other data such as software version and load averages.
In this feature spotlight, we are taking a closer look at the new Server Creation Wizard which makes it easier and faster than ever to add a web server to WHMCS.
With the new setup wizard, simply choose the control panel your server uses, enter the hostname or IP of the server along with your API connection credentials, and WHMCS will take care of the rest, automatically filling things such as the server name, IP, Hostname and nameservers.

It also automatically verifies the connection ensuring WHMCS can communicate with your web server and providing clear informative error messages and feedback should the connection fail.

For those who prefer the previous experience, it's just a click away and allows you to still configure a server manually should you wish.

This new automated setup process is supported for the cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin modules at the time of launch and is available for module developers to integrate into their own modules.

Stay tuned for our next spotlight which will take an in-depth look at the Server Sync tool.
